Linebacker Mike Taylor (no relation) missed the last six games of Wisconsin’s 2009 season after tearing his ACL.
Now, a surgical procedure performed on the same knee will keep the sophomore out for up to a month.
Head coach Bret Bielema announced at Sunday’s media day that Taylor will undergo a minor operation on his right knee Tuesday and will be sidelined for 2-4 weeks. Taylor’s recovery is expected to keep him out of the opener against UNLV and, based on long end end of the prognosis, could miss the following week’s game against San Jose State as well.
Taylor started seven games last year as a redshirt freshman before suffering the season-ending injury, and has been penciled in as the starter this year as well.
