Suspension likely to continue for one of Auburn’s top LBs

Craig Stevens missed Auburn’s season-opening win over Arkansas State as a result of an indefinite suspension.

The way head coach Gene Chizik talked Sunday, that suspension could still be in place for Thursday night’s SEC opener against Mississippi State.

Chizik, who refused to divulge any details as to what led to Stevens’ punishment, said the senior will be out until “he will have proved to us that he is living back up to our standards.”

Eltoro Freeman started in Stevens’ place against Arkansas State, and will likely do the same Thursday if the suspension is not lifted.

During his time at Auburn, Stevens has started 33 games, including 13 in 2009.
