Nebraska’s ‘Superman’ returns to practice, ‘ready to go’ vs. Cyclones

After being held out Monday due to an ankle injury suffered in the win over Missouri Saturday, Nebraska’s Taylor Martinez returned to practice Tuesday.

And, with that return, it all but erased any lingering doubt that he would be available this weekend.

Speaking after practice yesterday, offensive coordinator Shawn Watson pronounced his starting quarterback “ready to go” for the Iowa State game.

“He threw the ball well today,” Watson said. “He moved around good. We were smart with him, and we’ll give him [Wednesday] and keep practicing him and pushing him. He had a good day today though. ...

He’s like Superman. He bounces back.

It should be noted that, Watson’s superhero gushing notwithstanding, Martinez did not take part in contact drills Tuesday. With that being said, it appears there’s as much chance of Martinez not playing against the Cyclones as there is of me playing against them.
