Ole Miss suspends two freshmen

“Bad freshman mistakes” have led to the suspensions of two members of Ole Miss’ 2010 recruiting class, head coach Houston Nutt announced Tuesday.

While he didn’t get into any specifics, Nutt said that defensive back Tony Grimes and defensive end Delvin Jones have been suspended indefinitely for violating unspecified team rules. Nutt’s own words, however, heavily intimated that academics were involved.

“I’m gonna see how it goes,” Nutt said when asked if the pair would be back for spring practice. “I’m gonna see how it goes. Gotta show me some effort in the classroom.”

Grimes is by far the bigger “loss” this season as he had played in nine games, starting one. Jones had played in two of the ten games.
