Tide offers up musical tribute to Cam Newton situation

In a rivalry that’s as heated and burns as hot as any in college football, both sides of the Iron Bowl will look to get in a dig or take a shot at the other side whenever the opportunity affords itself.

Given the situation/controversy/imbroglio still swirling around Auburn quarterback Cam Newton, there’s plenty of material available to Alabama if they want to take advantage of it.

And, of course, they have.

According to various tweets from beat writers from both sides in attendance in Tuscaloosa, the Tide’s music director decided to pay a tribute musically to Newton -- and his father -- by blasting a pair of apropos songs through the Bryant-Denny Stadium speaker system as the Tigers were entering the field of play for warm-ups.

Cam Newton Musical Tribute

I don’t care which side of the rivalry you fall on, that’s some hilarious stuff right there.

Whether the Tide faithful will have the last laugh, however, remains to be seen.
