Arizona center sidelined with knee injury, will miss Alamo Bowl

Arizona center Colin Baxter will miss this year’s Alamo Bowl against Oklahoma State due to knee surgery for a torn meniscus. Baxter, who has started 48 straight games for the Wildcats, actually tore the ligament on Oct. 30 against UCLA, but played in the final four games for Arizona.

Talk about toughness.

Repairing the damaged knee was “something Colin’s prolonged and agonized over the last few weeks,” coach Mike Stoops said. “It’s obviously the best time to get it fixed.” Baxter, a Rimington Trophy finalist, hopes that having the surgery now will leave him enough time to work out for NFL scouts in the spring.

Stepping in for the senior will be sophomore Kyle Quinn, who will make his first career start in the bowl game.
