Texas Tech denies TCU, but will keep ... wait for it ... Texas State

A few days ago, Texas Tech announced that they were officially dumping TCU from their 2011 slate in order to make room for the Big 12’s new round-robin schedule. As many of you so vocally pointed out, it was a decision met with cynicism and general disdain.

Now, it appears Texas Tech will dig itself even deeper into a public relations hole by opening up next season at home against Texas State, two sources told ESPN Dallas.com. Texas State will be making the jump to the FBS and the WAC after next season (provided the WAC still around, of course).

So, yes, in a nutshell, Texas Tech will not play TCU in Dallas/Ft. Worth, but will play an FCS opponent at home.

The game will mark the return of TSU coach Dennis Franchione, who previously coached at Texas Tech rival Texas A&M.
