USC’s Armond Armstead hospitalized with unspecified medical condition

There’s slightly disturbing news coming out of Southern California as USC announced Friday night that a veteran member of their defensive line is currently hospitalized due to some type of medical issue.

Senior Armond Armstead was hospitalized at some point Thursday with what’s only being described as an unspecified medical condition. The defensive end is currently undergoing testing, and there’s no word yet on when he will be released.

“His situation is being evaluated and tests are continuing,” head coach Lane Kiffin said in a statement. “USC’s outstanding team of doctors is providing him with excellent medical care.

“I saw Armond and his family this morning. He is in great spirits and in stable condition. He is looking forward to getting back with his teammates soon. He and his family asked that no further information be released at this point.”

In 2010, Armstead started 10 of the 12 games in which he played.
