Ex-Gator WR appears headed to USF

Nearly a month after deciding to transfer from Florida, Chris Dunkley appears to have found a new football home.

And, as it turns out, it’s the same school he was reportedly doing a heavy lean toward late last month.

Speaking to Greg Auman of the St. Petersburg Times, Dunkley’s former high school coach intimated that it was all but a done deal that the wide receiver would be headed to USF and play for the Bulls.

“Honestly, I believe it’s going to happen with USF,” Pahokee High School coach Blaze Thompson told Auman.

In addition to USF, Cincinnati, West Virginia and Marshall have expressed interest in a player Rivals.com rated as the No. 9 receiver in the country for the 2010 recruiting class.

If Dunkley does ultimately land at USF, he could see a familiar face come summer camp. Auman also reports that running back Mike Blakely, who announced Tuesday that he was transferring from Florida, has an interest in USF and the school has been granted permission to speak to the player.

Blakely’s release from his UF scholarship stipulated that he could transfer to any school except one in the SEC, Florida State and Miami.
