Badgers could be missing receiver for opener, too

Earlier, we noted that UNLV could be without one of their wide receivers for the 2011 opener due to an injury. As it turns out, their opponent could be in the same receiving boat as well.

Wisconsin head coach Bret Bielema said Tuesday that Manasseh Garner will be sidelined for up to four weeks due to a hernia. The sophomore is set to undergo surgery Wednesday, and Bielema has already all but ruled him out of the first game of the year.

“There is a very good chance he’ll be back in the second game,” Bielema said according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

Garner has been/will be in line for the No. 3 receiver role with the Badgers, although with their running game that’s like being the No. 9 WR on most other depth charts.
