Injuries force Oregon State to lose one permanently, the other for two weeks

The beginning of the 2011 season is just over two weeks away (can you believe it?), but Oregon State will definitely be one player short, with the possibility of another one absent when the Beavers take on powerhouse Sacramento State.

The Oregonian writes that a knee injury to safety Josh LaGrone has forced the junior to hang up his cleats and forfeit the rest of his collegiate football career.

“He has made a decision, with the doctors’ advice, not to play anymore,’’ coach Mike Riley said.

Additionally, Beavers defensive tackle Kevin Frahm (pictured No. 74) has suffered a strained knee during practice on Tuesday and could be out for the next couple of weeks on crutches.

“It’s tough coming out and having to be on the sidelines,’’ Frahm said. “But the most important thing for me to do now is kind of to accept my new role, I guess, and to help out the team, because that’s what it’s about, and just focus on helping these new guys and get myself ready to play.’’
