Wife of Oklahoma State assistant coach passes away

Any celebration that arose from Oklahoma State’s win early Sunday morning over Tulsa has been muted by heartbreaking news coming out of Stillwater Sunday night.

According to multiple media outlets, Angela Spencer, the wife of OSU co-defensive coordinator/linebackers coach Glenn Spencer, passed away Saturday night. She was 46 years old.

There was no immediate cause of death, although Mrs. Spencer had a history of heart problems and underwent a heart transplant last year.

“She was having a tough time and then when she passed away, it was difficult. There’s no question about it,” head coach Mike Gundy said. “His family’s here and they’re doing as good as could be expected at this point. We move forward and everybody’s thoughts and prayers are with their family.”

Glenn Spencer, who is in his fourth year as a member of Gundy’s staff, was reportedly awaiting the start of OSU’s game Saturday night -- the start of the contest was delayed for three hours due to weather -- when he was summoned back to Stillwater due to an issue with his wife.

Angela Spencer is survived by her husband and two sons.

Our thoughts, prayers and condolences go out to Glenn Spencer and children on the passing of their wife and mother.
