Hokies’ Hosley doubtful for Saturday

In what’s not an unexpected development, Virginia Tech will likely be without the services of one of the most talented defensive backs in the country this weekend.

Cornerback Jayron Hosley suffered a hamstring injury during practice a week ago, then aggravated it during the win over Wake Forest last weekend. On the Hokies’ Thursday injury report, Hosley is officially listed as doubtful.

An official determination on his availability likely won’t be made until shortly before kickoff against Boston College, although it’s not expected the junior will be healthy enough to see the field.

If Hosley is unable to go, redshirt freshman Detrick Bonner would likely get the starting nod. It would be Bonner’s first career start.

The past season and a half, Hosley has accounted for 12 interceptions, including a nation-leading nine last year.
