Status of Temple’s Pierce for next game uncertain

A shot to the head that knocked Bernard Pierce out of Temple’s loss to Ohio Wednesday has his status for next Wednesday’s game up in th air, head coach Steve Addazio said today.

The running back was briefly hospitalized following the hit and did not fly with the team back to Philadelphia. He ultimately was released and returned home Thursday, accompanied by the team physician.

Addazio said during his press conference Friday that he doesn’t have an update on Pierce’s status, and doesn’t know his availability for next week’s game against Miami (OH).

“I haven’t seen him today,” Addazio said by way of the Philadelphia Inquirer. “I saw him yesterday. I don’t like to comment on injuries. But obviously, we all know that he got dinged in that game.

We just have to wait and see.”

Pierce is currently tied with Wisconsin’s Montee Ball for most rushing touchdowns with 18. He’s also 11th in rushing yards per game at just under 119.
