Defensive coordinator one of three dismissed by UCF

For the second straight this year, George O’Leary will be searching for a new defensive coordinator. This time around, though, it was the UCF head coach’s decision to move in a different direction.

In a release, UCF announced that coordinator John Skladany, linebackers coach Al Seamonson and director of player personnel Albert Boone will not be retained for the 2012 season. No reason was given for the dismissals in the 32-word release.

Skladany was promoted to coordinator from linebackers coach after Dave Huxtable in January of this year after Huxtable left to become Wisconsin’s LB coach.

This year, the Knights are No. 11 in scoring defense (18.3 points per game) and No. 13 in total defense (303.3 yards per game). In 2010, UCF finished No. 8 in the former category (17.1 ppg) and no. 15 in the latter category (315.4 ypg).
