Arizona QB moving on to Oklahoma State

After requesting a transfer from Arizona in mid-November -- prior to Rich Rodriguez‘s arrival in the desert -- quarterback Daxx Garman has finally found a new collegiate home.

Speaking to the Arizona Daily Star, Garman confirmed that he will be transferring to Oklahoma State and will enroll at the school shortly after the first of the year. While the success of the Cowboys football program certainly played a role in the decision, Garman, who is an Oklahoma native and grew up in Texas, said being closer to his family was a significant factor as well.

“I’m getting the opportunity to move closer to home,” he said. “My family can be more involved in the situation, and I felt like it’s a better opportunity for me. Oklahoma State, they have a great football environment. The fans are great people there, and they support the Oklahoma State football program completely. I’m very excited to be a part of that.”

Garman, a three-star member of UA’s 2011 recruiting class, was an early-enrollee this past January and participated in spring practice with the Wildcats. He took a redshirt for the 2011 season, and will have to sit out the 2012 season in order to satisfy NCAA transfer rules.
