Conference USA schools on former TTU QB’s transfer wish list

Although Texas Tech quarterback Jacob Karam didn’t get a chance to play much for the Red Raiders this season courtesy of starter Seth Doege, he will get another shot at a starting job somewhere else.

FOX 26 Sports in Houston reported Friday that Karam is looking to transfer to either Houston, Memphis or UTEP as his next playing destination. Karam, a redshirt sophomore, graduated this month magna cum laude from TTU with a degree in university studies/pre-law. Because he’s graduated, he will be able to play at a new Division 1-A school right away without having to sit out a season. He would also have two years of eligibility remaining.

As for where he ends up, Karam didn’t list a front-runner, but did speak highly of new Houston head coach Tony Levine.

“Coach Levine recruited me when I was in high school,” Karam said. “I’m really happy for Coach Levine and his family. I have no doubt UH is headed in the right direction.”

The Cougars will be looking to replace sixth-year senior and record-holder of every NCAA passing category... ever... Case Keenum in 2012.
