Syracuse’s top WR one of two ruled out for the spring

The book isn’t even closed on the 2011 season and already one football program’s preparations for the 2012 season have been impacted by injuries.

Syracuse announced Thursday evening that wide receiver Alec Lemon and cornerback Keon Lyn underwent shoulder surgeries recently and, as a result, have already been ruled out of participating in spring practice. Both of the medical procedures were to the players’ respective right shoulders.

The release went on to state that "[t]heir status for the 2012 season will be evaluated throughout the rehabilitation process and announced prior to the start of pre-season camp.”

The Syracuse Post-Standard reported that Lemon’s issue has the potential to sideline the receiver for the 2012 season.

Lemon, a junior, set a single-season school record with his 68 receptions in 2011. The sophomore Lyn had 23 tackles and two tackles for loss.
