Irish officially land Vols line coach

Rumored to be headed from Tennessee to Notre Dame for more than a week, Harry Hiestand has officially moved on to the Irish.

Notre Dame announced in a press release that Hiestand has been hired by Brian Kelly as his new offensive line coach. Hiestand will replace Ed Warinner, who left for a position on Urban Meyer‘s Ohio State coaching staff.

Hiestand has spent the past two seasons with Tennessee as the Vols’ line coach.

“I’ve spent most of my coaching career in the Midwest and I’m happy to be back in the area,” Hiestand said in a statement. “I’ve always had great respect for Notre Dame and what it stands for. As you look at the college football landscape, Notre Dame is truly a unique place and I’m happy to be part of it. I’m excited about working with Coach Kelly and our offensive linemen this year.”

Prior to his arrival in Knoxville, Hiestand worked with the Chicago Bears (2005-09), Illinois (1997-2004) and at Missouri (1994-96).
