Sun Devils add ex-Memphis HC to coaching staff

Two-and-a-half months after being canned as Memphis’ head coach, Larry Porter has landed on his coaching feet a little further west.

Arizona State announced via a press release that Porter has been added to Todd Graham‘s coaching staff. No specific duties or titles were given, although Porter’s prowess as a recruiter would lead one to believe that he could carry the title of recruiting coordinator -- a title he held at LSU -- in addition to whichever position he’ll be charged with coaching.

The odds are, though, that he will be in charge of running backs; in each of Porter’s stops prior to becoming Memphis’ head coach in 2010 -- LSU (2005-09), Oklahoma State (2002-04), Arkansas State (1999-2001) and Tennessee-Martin (1998) -- he was the running backs coach.

In 2007 and 2009, he was named by Rivals.com as the website’s National Recruiter of the Year.
