Dan McCarney released from hospital after stroke

A week after confirming that he had indeed suffered a stroke on Feb. 12, North Texas coach Dan McCarney is out of the hospital, and thankfully, looks like he’s going to be okay.

The Associated Press reports via a school spokesperson that McCarney was released last Thursday and has returned to athletic offices for about an hour each day. McCarney expects to be back in time for UNT’s spring practices, which begin March 28.

The first-year coach said he “was just sitting down to eat a sandwich when my left side went numb.” He was taken to a local hospital and underwent a batter of tests. Doctors said they expect McCarney to recover fully with no permanent damage.

“Nothing wrong with me that a little Grey Goose won’t cure,” McCarney told the Des Moines Register.

Awesome.
