Now that Michigan safety Josh Furman has been found not guilty of three charges against him stemming from a February “incident” -- meaning it was more potential than anything else -- his status with the team has been addressed.
Michigan confirmed today that Furman has been reinstated to the team following an indefinite suspension handed out by coach Brady Hoke earlier this month. The suspension was issued until Furman’s off-the-field issue was resolved.
And, as it turned out, the said issue (three misdemeanor counts of assault and battery, domestic violence and breaking and entering) wasn’t much of an issue at all.
“After allowing the judicial process to run its course and evaluating the situation, we have reinstated Josh as a member of our team,” Hoke said in a statement. “We met multiple times over the past few months and Josh understands the responsibilities and expectations that come with being a football student-athlete at the University of Michigan.
“It is our job to make sure he continues to grow and mature off the field as well as on the field.”
