Oklahoma running back Dominique Whaley will reportedly be ready for preseason camp as he recovers from a broken ankle. Now, there’s more reason to believe that will indeed be the case.
According to Jason Kersey of The Oklahoman, Whaley has been active during the offseason by playing a little basketball.
I heard Whaley was playing a “fairly intense” game of pickup basketball Sunday. The person who told me said Whaley was “running up and down the floor pretty well. Maybe had a little hitch in his step, but seemed like his normal running motion.”
Whaley’s injury occurred last October against Kansas State and he’s been sidelined ever since, but this is clearly a good sign for the Sooners’ leading rusher. Let’s not forget OU’s wide receiver situation is a tad more than sketchy at the current moment, so there could be an increased emphasis on the run this year, at least early on.
