CSU commit wounded in Colorado massacre

The horrific and senseless shooting at a movie theater in Colorado hit very close to home this morning, and now it appears the massacre has touched the world of college football as well.

According to a tweet from Matt Stephens of the Fort Collins Coloradoan, Zack Golditch, who has verbally committed to be a member of Colorado State’s 2013 recruiting class, was among the dozens wounded in a shooting in Aurora that left at least 12 people dead. There was no update provided as to the injuries Golditch sustained or his condition.

Stephens added that a current but unidentified CSU player was at the same movie theater for the premiere of the new Batman movie.

In a tweet posted to his own Twitter account shortly after noon ET today, Golditch wrote “Thank you God for the gift of life! i promise it will not go to waste.” Earlier, and a few hours after the shooting, the high schooler wrote “Thank you god for saveing [sic] me tonight! thank you! thank you! thank you!”

Golditch, a 6-5, 260-pound offensive tackle from Aurora, committed to the Rams last month. He also held offers from, among others, Colorado, Air Force and Wyoming.

Suffice to say, our thoughts and prayers go out to all of those touched by this incomprehensible tragedy.

UPDATED 1:16 p.m. ET: Golditch confirmed to the Coloradoan that he was in an adjacent theater during the shooting and a bullet that penetrated a wall struck him just below the ear and exited, the paper wrote, at his hairline.

Golditch spent nearly six hours at a local hospital before being released.

It’s also been confirmed that the unidentified CSU player who also attended the Batman premiere was wide receiver David Anderson. The sophomore was not one of the dozens injured.
