Miami WR done for the year following ankle injury

A gruesome-looking ankle injury ended the day for Miami wide receiver Malcolm Lewis during yesterday’s win over Georgia Tech. As one would reasonably expect, the injury has ended the season for Lewis as well.

Coach Al Golden announced Sunday during his press conference that Lewis was in fact done for the year with a dislocated ankle. Golden added that he hoped to get a medical hardship waiver for Lewis.

Deadspin has a video of the injury, which you can watch HERE (at your own risk, of course). But the moment turned from horrific to heartwarming as Golden held and comforted Lewis as trainers tended to his injury. Coaches demand an awful lot from their players, so it was nice to see Golden be there for Lewis like that.

Lewis finishes the year with eight catches and was one of the more promising young talents the Hurricanes had on the roster.
