Illinois CB taken off the field in ambulance

It’s the last thing you ever want to see, but unfortunately, the violent game that is football is full of scary moments like the one today involving Illinois cornerback Terry Hawthorne.

Hawthorne went down in the third quarter against Wisconsin after colliding with the Badgers’ Derek Watt on a 26-yard completion from quarterback Joel Stave. Hawthorne stayed on the ground and eventually had to be taken off the field in an ambulance.

Additionally, Hawthorne was hit with a 15-yard personal foul penalty for the hit.

The good news is that Hawthorne, a senior, was able to give the thumbs up on his way to the ambulance. We’ll update this post once we know more, but for now the important thing is that Hawthorne is going to be okay.

Wisconsin beat Illinois 31-14.
