Report: Tyler Bray leaving Vols for NFL

Earlier this week, wide receiver Justin Hunter confirmed that he would be leaving Tennessee early for the money-green pastures of the NFL.

Apparently, the player who was on the throwing end of Hunter’s numerous receptions the past three seasons is prepared to follow suit as well.

In the form of a tweet from the imitable Bruce Feldman, the CBSSports.com writer is reporting that Vols quarterback Tyler Bray “is leaving Tennessee to put his name into April’s NFL draft.” Feldman cited an unnamed source as the, ummm, source of the information.

UT has yet to confirm a decision on the part of Bray.

Bray is a true junior, and has started 24 games his first three seasons in Knoxville. The four-star member of the Vols’ 2010 recruiting class is coming off his best season, totaling career highs in yards (3,612) and touchdown passes (34) as well interceptions (12).

The fact that the Vols will have a new head coach, offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach in 2013 likely played a role in Bray’s decision to leave early, if that is indeed the football path he takes.

Bray would become the first player at his position to plunge into the NFL draft pool.
