Even as the start of their spring practice sessions is still two months or so away, Syracuse has already announced a trio of players won’t be available.
Running back Prince-Tyson Gulley, defensive tackle Eric Crume, and linebacker Dyshawn Davis have been ruled out due to various injuries. All three are suffering from what the school describes as upper-body injuries, although details on the specific nature were not divulged.
Additionally, all three underwent surgery in early January. The release states that their status for the 2013 season will be determined in June.
Gulley finished second on the Orange as a junior last season with 830 yards and led the team in rushing touchdowns with nine. Following a 213-yard, three-touchdown performance against West Virginia in the Pinstripe Bowl, Gulley was named the game’s Most Valuable Player.
Davis was second in tackles for loss (14) and third in tackles (69). He added two fumble recoveries, one sack and one interception as a sophomore.
Crume, a rising junior, had 15 tackles, two tackles for loss, forced a fumble, had a fumble recovery and a blocked kick in 2012.
