Hawaii lineman reportedly transferring to Baylor

This one has sort of flown under the radar for about a week, but Baylor has apparently landed an experienced offensive line transfer for the 2014 season.

Citing a website for the Sutherland Seahawks, the Waco Tribune reported earlier in the week that Hawaii offensive lineman Blake Muir has decided to transfer to Baylor and continue his collegiate playing career with the Bears. The Seahawks are an Australian “gridiron club"; Muir is originally from Sydney and that club maintains a blog dedicated to the lineman called “Blake’s Diaries.”

In an entry on that blog dated Feb. 5, it was reported that the Baylor coaching staff made Muir "[a]n offer too good to refuse” after “really [going] the extra mile” in his recruitment. That extra mile appears to include Muir’s brother and fellow offensive lineman Sean Muir joining his brother on scholarship with the Bears next year.

Based on what we understand from the blog, Muir’s decision, which has not been confirmed by BU officials, came down to Baylor and Oregon State. Georgia Tech had also been rumored as one potential transfer destination early on in the process.

Muir will be forced to sit out the 2013 season to satisfy NCAA transfer rules, but will have two years of eligibility remaining beginning in 2014.

After redshirting as a true freshman in 2011, Muir started all 12 games at left tackle for the Warriors in 2012.
