Georgia Tech fills QB coaching vacancy

Less than two weeks after losing an offensive assistant, Paul Johnson has filled the lone vacancy on his Georgia Tech coaching staff.

On his Twitter feed Friday night, Johnson announced that Bryan Cook has been hired as the Yellow Jackets’ quarterbacks coach. Johnson did note that Cook’s officially official hiring is pending completion of some paperwork, although it’s doubtful the coach would take to a social media site to announce something he thought could fall through.

Cook will replace Brian Bohannon, who left late last month to take over as the head coach at Kennesaw State.

The past four seasons, Cook has served as Cal Poly’s offensive coordinator/co-coordinator, where he ran an option offense similar to the one Johnson runs at Tech. He also coached on Bobby Ross’ Army staff and served as a grad assistant at Tech for three years prior to that.
