Daytona Speedway could host a college football game

We’ve had college football games in baseball stadiums and overseas. Now, how about one in a race track?

Dayton International Speedway could end up hosting a college football game. And/or a NFL game. And/or a soccer game. Maybe.

Speaking to the Associated Press on Friday, track president Joie Chitwood said he’s interested in hosting other sporting events at the track, including possible college football games with Florida and Florida State.

The speedway is currently undergoing a massive renovation that will include better seating and more televisions. The project is projected to be completed in January, 2016, and the games would be played on the infield grass in front of the start-finish line.

The sight lines alone could make this a terrible idea. Unless the track hosted both a NASCAR race and a college football game at the same time.
