LSU makes 2014 opener vs. Wisconsin officially official

Nearly two weeks ago to the day, Virginia Tech revealed that a series with Wisconsin had been pushed back into the future so that the Badgers could make room for a series with LSU.

With the release of the SEC’s 2014 schedule Wednesday, that Big-Ten SEC matchup, at least for that season, has been confirmed.

The Tigers noted in their press release that they will open the 2014 season against the Badgers in the AdvoCare Texas Kickoff at Houston’s Reliant Stadium. The game will be played Aug. 30, and will be the first for the Tigers in Houston since beating Rice, 24-10, in 1983.

There has been no official word yet from the Badgers on what’s expected to be a (quasi) home-and-home series.

The second game of the series is expected to be played at historic Lambeau Field in 2016; there was no mention of that game in LSU’s release.

LSU and Wisconsin have met in football just twice, back in 1971 and 1972. The Tigers won both of those games.
