ACC sweeps weekly Camp honors

Following Week 4 of the 2013 season, the ACC has swept one of the most recognizable honors at the FBS level.

The fine folks at the Walter Camp Football Foundation, announced its weekly honors, with National Offensive Player of the Week going to Pittsburgh quarterback Tom Savage and Maryland safety A.J. Hendy being named the National Defensive Player of the Week.

In the Panthers’ 58-55 win over Duke, Savage passed for 424 yards and six touchdowns. The latter figure was not only the most by a Pitt quarterback since 1997, it tied an ACC single-game record.

Hendy recovered two fumbles and returned an interception 26 yards for a touchdown in the Terps’ shutout laugher over West Virginia. The defensive back was part of a defense that forced six turnovers in helping Maryland improve to 4-0 for the first time since 2001.

Incidentally, Hendy became the first Terps player ever to claim Camp defensive honors.
