ASU’s Marion Grice likely out of Pac-12 title game with injury

The excitement stemming from Arizona State’s pounding of archrival Arizona, which secured home-field advantage in the conference championship game, was tempered a bit by some distressing news on the injury front.

Star running back Marion Grice did not play in the 58-21 win over the Wildcats due to an injury to his left leg suffered a week ago. Based on head coach Todd Graham‘s comments afterwards, it appears highly unlikely Grice will see the field for the Pac-12 title game against Stanford too.

“It’s probably a three-week deal,” Graham said. “He’d probably be doubtful (against Stanford). I think I’m safe in saying that. Our deal is we want to go win this thing, and he’ll be ready for the next one.”

If ASU can win next weekend, Grice should have plenty of time to fully recover and play in the Rose Bowl.

Grice leads the Sun Devils with 996 yards and 14 touchdowns. He’s also third on the team with 50 receptions for 438 yards, while his six receiving touchdowns are tied for the team lead.

With Grice sidelined against the Wildcats, D.J. Foster ran for 124 touchdowns and a pair of scores.
