Report: Bill O’Brien reaches agreement to coach Houston Texans

ESPN is reporting on Tuesday night that Penn State coach Bill O’Brien has reached an agreement to become the new coach of the NFL’s Houston Texans.

This has been in the works for a while and, if true, it means O’Brien will leave Happy Valley with a two-year record of 15-9, an altogether admirable record considering the turmoil surrounding the program when he arrived.

Now the speculation begins over who Penn State will hire. A recent report suggested Tampa Bay head coach Greg Schiano would be a top target. James Franklin of Vanderbilt could also get some consideration.

Whatever the case, the timing isn’t great for the Nittany Lions, who are smack dab in the middle of recruiting season. They’ll need to get a coach in place soon to avert a total recruiting disaster.
