Browns, Redskins the latest to show interest in Vanderbilt’s James Franklin

Vanderbilt head coach James Franklin continues to have plenty of interest from those in need of a new head coach. Franklin is considered one of the top targets of Penn State to replace Bill O’Brien, and until Charlie Strong makes a decision final between Louisville and Texas the Commodores head coach could remain on the short list for Texas. But now a pair of NFL franchises in need of a new coach have entered the fray, the Cleveland Browns and Washington Redskins.
As reported earlier by our friends over at Pro Football Talk, Franklin has already interviewed for the now-filled spot with the Houston Texans. According to Adam Schefter of ESPN.com, the Brown and Redskins have each requested for permission to speak with Franklin.

To put it simply, Franklin is now one of the top coaches in the coaching carousel in the college and NFL ranks, so he has his options should he choose to move on from Vanderbilt.
