Report: LSU picks its OL coach

Les Miles said on Monday that it might be a week to 10 days before he picked a new offensive line coach to replace the outgoing Greg Studrawa.

One day later, he found his man.

The Tigers will add Virginia Tech offensive line coach/running game coordinator Jeff Grimes to their staff, according to a report from TheAdvertiser.com.

Grimes spent just one year with the Hokies and didn’t exactly set the world on fire. Virginia Tech was 110th nationally at just 120 rushing yards per game and 99th in sacks allowed.

Before that, he coached offensive line at Auburn from 2009-2012 under Gene Chizik. It’s worth noting that in 2012 Auburn was 85th in rushing while in 2013, upon the departure of Grimes, the Tigers finished first in the nation.

Grimes has also had stints coaching offensive line at Colorado, Brigham Young and Arizona State.
