Report: Ohio State QB Braxton Miller to have surgery Friday

The best player in the Big Ten will undergo surgery on Friday. Ohio State quarterback Braxton Miller will have surgery on his throwing shoulder, which was hurt in the Orange Bowl against Clemson.

As first reported by Eleven Warriors, the surgical procedure Miller will have is minor and is not expected to affect his status for Ohio State’s spring football practice schedule. Still, any time a quarterback has surgery on a throwing arm it can be cause for concern.

Miller has been roughed up as Ohio State’s starting quarterback. Miller missed playing time early in the 2013 season after suffering a sprained MCL and has been open to taking hits in the field due to his knack for taking off and running at times. Clemson managed to sack Miller five times in the Orange Bowl this past January, and Miller admitted later to being hurt early in the game and playing through pain.
