All-Conference USA DL gets sixth season with Herd

One of the most talented and productive defensive players in Conference USA will be back for another season.

Marshall announced via Twitter this week that defensive lineman James Rouse will play in 2014 after the NCAA “approved his extension-of-eligibility waiver.” In other words, Rouse was granted a sixth season of eligibility because of medical issues.

Rouse missed the entire 2012 season with an Achilles tear and all but the first three games in 2011 due to a back injury.

Finally healthy in 2013, Rouse led the Herd in tackles for loss (14) and sacks (six). Following that performance, coaches named Rouse first-team All-Conference USA.
