Report: MAC sticking with eight-game conference schedule

Don’t expect to see an extra game of #MACtion anytime soon.

As debates rage in power conferences about whether to play an eight or nine-game schedule, the MAC went about its business pretty quietly. Per CBS Sports’ Jeremy Fowler:

The MAC this week voted to stay on an eight-game conference football game schedule for future years.

Chances are, this won’t affect much in terms of the conference’s slim chances of breaking into the College Football Playoff. Going to nine conference games could’ve hindered some teams from scheduling multiple big-five opponents -- Northern Illinois had Iowa and Kansas on its schedule in its Orange Bowl season of 2012 -- but it’ll take an awful lot of good fortune for a MAC team to enter the four-team playoff discussion.

In a more practice sense, it means the same amount of #MACtion we’ve been getting in recent years. Which has been an awful lot of #MACtion.
