BYU’s September 2015 schedule is a beast with addition of UCLA

BYU is going to have one monster schedule in September 2015. In addition to the road games at Nebraska and Michigan, as well as a home date against Boise State, the Cougars are also adding a road game at UCLA to the mix.

BYU continues to tap the Pac-12 for opponents to fill the schedule. The Cougars have agreed to a home-and-home series with UCLA in 2015 and 201, the schools announced today. UCLA will host the Cougars on September 19, 2015 in Los Angeles, and BYU will host UCLA on September 17, 2016 in Provo to complete the home-and-home series.

It should go without saying that scheduling can be tough for BYU, a program standing firm on life as a football independent despite power conferences weighing BYU as a lighter opponent than Notre Dame in the new College Football Playoff era. For BYU to secure home-and-home dates with teams from power conferences is not exactly uncommon, but it is something the school may at times have to work harder to pick up, especially with teams playing nine-game conference schedules. Getting UCLA on board is significant, especially considering the way the Bruins have been trending upward recently.

It is also somewhat interesting to see that BYU will be facing either UCLA or USC more often than some Pac-12 North teams might, given the conference’s scheduling rotation.

BYU will play either USC or UCLA five times from 2015-2023. That might be as many (or more) than some Pac-12 North teams play the LA schools

BYU also has games scheduled against Arizona, Arizona State, Stanford, California, Washington State and, of course, Utah appearing on future schedules through 2025 as well.
