Report: LSU starting DB Mills suspended indefinitely following battery charge

Time to hit the reset button on the “Days Without an Arrest” ticker once more. LSU defensive back Jalen Mills was arrested Wednesday morning and charged with second-degree battery according to a report by a Baton Rouge news station.

As reported by WAFB, Mills was booked on a second-degree battery charge. As a result, Mills has been indefinitely suspended by LSU, allowing for the legal process to play out for now before making any further judgements on his status on the roster.

According to the police report cited by WAFB, Mills is accused of punching a woman in the mouth at his apartment in early May. The police report says the woman claims to have fallen to the pavement and was briefly unconscious. A witness was able to confirm the details of the report to police. Mills was unavailable to talk to police after arrangements to talk about the incident this week. With Mills not making himself available to police, a warrant for his arrest was issued.

The details of the incident sure do seem ugly, but of course for now these are just accusations. there is no word on any court date at this time for the two-year starter at LSU. In the spring Mills moved from cornerback to safety.
