Minor league team to offer James Franklin bobblehead

James Franklin has yet to win a game at Penn State, nevermind coach a single game, but the new head coach of the Nittany Lions is getting a bobblehead later this summer.

The State College Spikes, a Class A affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals, will hand out the bobblehead likeness of Franklin to the first 1,000 fans attending a home game on August 28, just before the college football season kicks off. Penn State will be in Ireland prepping for a trans-Atlantic contest against the defending AAC and Fiesta Bowl champions from UCF.

As far as bobbleheads go, the likeness captured on this particular model looks pretty spot on. It is not often a bobblehead actually looks like the intended subject, but this one looks pretty decent. The bobblehead depicts Franklin in a suit, holding a football in front of the gates to the tunnel entrance at Beaver Stadium.

The Spikes organized a bobblehead promotion prior to the start of the 2013 college football season as well. A bobblehead of former Penn State head coach Bill O’Brien was the subject, complete with hat and headset.
