Departure cuts into Texas Tech’s secondary depth

A couple of weeks or so before the start of summer camp, and some unexpected attrition has cut somewhat into Texas Tech’s defensive backfield depth.

Chris Level of RedRaiderSports.com tweeted earlier this past week that sophomore cornerback Dee Paul has decided to leave the Red Raiders football program. No reason for the departure was given, although Level did add that he was released from his scholarship the week before last.

For what it’s worth, TT has yet to address Paul’s status with the team.

Paul was a three-star member of Tech’s 2013 recruiting class. He played in three games as a true freshman last season.

Exiting spring practice, Paul was listed as the No. 2 corner behind starter La’Darius Newbold.
