Georgia Tech will honor the scholarship offered to Jaylend Ratliffe, a three-star quarterback recruit in the Class of 2015. Ratliffe was injured in an ATV accident last week, fracturing his skull. It remains unknown whether or not his playing career has come to an end, but Georgia Tech is committed to honoring the scholarship offered to the dual-threat quarterback.
“He’s making some small improvements,’' Richard Bailey, Ratliffe’s high school coach said to FayObserver.com., who had a portion of his skull removed last week to help deal with swelling of his brain. “The doctors feel good about where he’s at,’' Bailey said.
Ratliffe had to have a piece of his skull removed to relieve the pressure on his brain. “The doctors feel good about where he’s at,’' Bailey said, but Ratliffe is facing an uphill battle to being able to play again. It is not out of the question, but it is not the major focus at this time.
It is good to see Georgia Tech follow through on the scholarship no matter what happens with Ratcliffe’s recovery. Here’s hoping he can still be a part of the football program in one capacity or another.
