Here’s something you don’t see every day.
At Camp Randall Stadium in Madison Saturday afternoon, Wisconsin is hosting Western Illinois as the Badgers look to bounce back back from their season-opening loss to LSU. The Badgers kicked off to their FCS opponents to open the game... and were promptly rewarded with a safety to jump out to a 2-0 lead exactly one second into the contest.
While it was initially ruled a touchback, the officials ultimately -- and correctly -- awarded two points to the Badgers.

A quick search has been unable to come up with another instance where a college football game began with a safety on the opening kickoff. at least at the FBS level. So, the Badgers have that going for them. Which is nice.
