Penn State now part of Bovada’s updated CFP odds

Thanks to NCAA sanctions, Penn State wouldn’t have been eligible for a bowl -- or a spot in the newly-minted College Football Playoff -- and thus weren’t included in any of Bovada‘s CFP odds over the past several months.

Thanks to the NCAA’s decision Monday, the final two years of the Nittany Lions’ original four-year bowl ban were wiped out, meaning PSU is eligible for a bowl, the Big Ten championship game and the CFP -- and to be included on a set of odds pertaining to the latter.

In its latest odds released Tuesday, Bovada has Penn State at 75/1 to win the first-ever CFP. Those are the same odds as Louisville and Washington, but behind 21 other teams -- including Michigan State (33/1) and Ohio State (40/1), both teams coming off high-profile losses in Week 2.

As has been the case since winning the last-ever BCS title in January, Florida State is the favorite at 9/2. Those are the same odds the Seminoles had earlier this month. And, as has been the case as well, Alabama’s right behind FSU at 7/1.

Coming off a huge win over MSU, Oregon saw its odds grow a littler short in going from 8/1 to 15/2. Stanford, with the loss to USC in its hip pocket, tumbled from 40/1 to 66/1, while the Trojans climbed from 20/1 to 12/1.
