Shoulder surgery to end season for Vols QB Justin Worley

Tennessee is sitting two wins shy of becoming bowl eligible, but the Vols will have to find a way to get two more wins without its starting quarterback. Tennessee quarterback Justin Worley will miss the rest of the season due to a shoulder injury requiring surgery. Head coach Butch Jones announced the injury update Tuesday.

Jones announced through a released statement Worley will undergo surgery for a torn labrum in his throwing shoulder.

“Justin Worley is out for the rest of the year,” Jones said. “He will undergo surgery, but he is still going to be around the team. And now he goes from Player Worley to Coach Worley.”

The injury could bring an end to Worley’s collegiate career as well, but it is good to see Jones keeping Worley involved with the team in some capacity. Worley injured his shoulder in Week 8 against Ole Miss and has not been able to completely recover.

Worley’s season will come to an end after leading Tennessee with 1,579 passing yards and 12 touchdowns in seven games.
