Penn State transfer QB headed north of the border

At least when it comes to American football players, Michael O’Connor is certainly the road less traveled. But, at least for O’Connor, it’s a familiar road.

According to The Sports Network broadcaster Farhan Lalji, O’Connor has decided to continue his collegiate playing career at the University of British Columbia. That’s in Canada, for those who are geographically impaired. It’s also the native country for O’Connor, who Lalji refers to as the best Canadian quarterback prospect since former Florida Gator and current ESPN college football analyst Jesse Palmer.

O’Connor will be eligible to play immediately in 2015 for UBC.

In December it was reported that O’Connor had decided to transfer from Penn State. O’Connor had also considered Syracuse before heading back home.

O’Connor was a four-star member of the Nittany Lions’ 2014 recruiting class, rated as the No. 7 pro-style passer in the country. He did not play at all his true freshman season, and was looking at at least one more season sitting behind rising true junior Christian Hackenberg.
