Miami CB Crawford’s status unconfirmed for now

There may be just one person out there who knows what the status of Miami cornerback Antonio Crawford is right now with the Hurricanes. That one person is Antonio Crawford.

Crawford generated a little buzz Saturday evening when he seemed to vent some frustrations on his Twitter account. Those tweets were soon removed but that did not help answer the question regarding his status with the Hurricanes Sunday. When Miami head coach Al Golden met with some reporters, Golden seemed unaware of Crawford’s Twitter rant and suggested he was hopeful Crawford still planned to be a part of the program in 2015.”

“Anytime there’s an internal issue, we don’t communicate that publicly,” Golden said according to The Miami Herald. “If that is the case, if that’s what his decision is, then we’ll make that clear to you guys. But in terms of anything from a personal matter, I can’t even tell you, how many, with 114 kids, we go through a lot of this and it’s just a different era. A lot of it is played out publicly, so if that’s his case, we’ll release it.”

Crawford, a former three-star recruit out of Tampa according to Rivals, was listed third on the depth chart at one cornerback position at the end of the 2014 season, behind senior Ladarius Gunter and sophomore Corn Elder.

There is some suggestion that Crawford had thought about previously leaving the program, and the recent string of events seems to suggest that mya end up becoming a reality. For now there is nothing official from either end of the story.

Golden did confirm two players are no longer a part of the program. Kicker Matt Goudis retired due to a back injury that bothered him for much of the 2014 season. Former walk-on wide receiver Garrett Kidd is also retiring form the program.
